Terms of Service
Effective date: May 15, 2026
Welcome to Vancouver Paid Parking (the "Service"). These Terms of Service ("Terms") form a binding agreement between you and the operator of the Service ("we", "us", "our"). By accessing or using the Service you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. The Service
The Service is an interactive map and reference tool that displays paid street-parking zones in Vancouver, British Columbia. It pulls source data from the City of Vancouver Open Data Portal and other public information and presents it in a more usable form. The Service offers a free tier supported by advertising and an optional paid Premium tier that removes ads and unlocks additional features.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service, and at least the age of majority in your jurisdiction (19 in British Columbia) to purchase a Premium subscription. By using the Service you represent that you meet these requirements.
3. Accounts
You can use the free map without an account. To save favourite zones, subscribe to Premium, or use other account-only features, you must create an account using a valid email address. You are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential and for all activity under your account. Notify us promptly via our contact form if you suspect unauthorised access.
4. Premium subscription
- Price. Premium costs CAD $4.00 per month (plus any applicable taxes) and is billed in advance through Stripe.
- Auto-renewal. Your subscription automatically renews every month for the same price until you cancel. By subscribing you authorise us, through Stripe, to charge your chosen payment method on each renewal date.
- Cancellation. You may cancel at any time from the in-app "Manage subscription" link, which opens Stripe's Customer Portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you keep Premium access until that date.
- Refunds. Subscription fees are generally non-refundable, with the exceptions set out in our Refund & Cancellation Policy.
- Price changes. We may change the price of Premium. We will give you at least 30 days' notice by email before the new price applies to your next renewal. If you do not want to accept the new price, cancel before the renewal date.
- Failed payments. If a renewal payment fails, Stripe will retry per its standard dunning schedule. If payment is not received, Premium access ends and your account returns to the free tier.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose.
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to other accounts, our servers, or our database.
- Scrape, crawl, or harvest data from the Service in a way that imposes an unreasonable load on our infrastructure, or republish bulk data without attribution to the underlying City of Vancouver Open Data licence.
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or otherwise attempt to derive source code, except to the extent that applicable law expressly permits.
- Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service.
- Use the Service to harass, defame, or harm others.
6. Accuracy and "as is" disclaimer
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". Parking rates, hours, zone boundaries, and PayByPhone codes change frequently and may be updated by the City without notice. While we make reasonable efforts to keep the data current, we do not guarantee that any information shown on the Service is accurate, complete, or up to date.
You are solely responsible for confirming parking rules at the physical location before parking, including reading on-street signage and verifying rates and codes inside the PayByPhone or City of Vancouver application. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
7. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenues, data, or use, arising out of or related to your use of the Service. This includes, without limitation, parking tickets, towing fees, late-payment penalties, or other enforcement costs resulting from reliance on information shown by the Service.
Our total cumulative liability for all claims arising out of or related to the Service in any 12-month period will not exceed the greater of (a) the total amount you paid us for Premium in that period, or (b) CAD $20.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages, so some of the above may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits liability for fraud, willful misconduct, or anything else that cannot be limited by applicable law.
8. Third-party services
The Service relies on third parties including Supabase (authentication and database), Stripe (payments), Vercel and Render (hosting), and Google AdSense (advertising on the free tier). Your use of those services through the Service is also subject to their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for third-party services.
9. Intellectual property
The Service, including its design, code, text, and graphics (excluding underlying open data and third-party content), is owned by us and protected by intellectual-property laws. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service for its intended purpose. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.
Parking data shown on the Service is derived from the City of Vancouver Open Data Portal and licensed under CC BY 4.0.
10. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time and delete your account by contacting us. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service if you breach these Terms, if required by law, or if continued provision becomes commercially impracticable. Termination of a paid Premium subscription is governed by Section 4 and the Refund & Cancellation Policy.
11. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If the changes are material we will give reasonable notice (for example, by email to subscribers or by an in-product notice) before the change takes effect. Continued use of the Service after the effective date of an update means you accept the updated Terms.
12. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia, Canada, and the federal laws of Canada applicable there, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. You and we submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Vancouver, British Columbia for any dispute that is not required by law to be heard elsewhere. Nothing in this section limits the rights of consumers under mandatory local law.
13. Contact
Questions about these Terms can be sent via our contact form.
