Driving the seawall is a Vancouver tradition, but navigating Stanley Park's sprawling parking system can be confusing. Managed by the Vancouver Park Board (and enforced by EasyPark), the park has its own unique set of rules separate from standard city street parking.
1. Seasonal Rates (Summer vs. Winter)
Unlike downtown meters which change prices by the hour, Stanley Park changes prices by the season. From April 1st to September 30th (Summer Season), expect to pay peak rates. From October 1st to March 31st (Winter Season), the hourly and daily maximums drop significantly.
2. The "Daily Pass" Advantage
If you plan to spend more than a few hours exploring the park, buying a Daily Pass is usually the smartest move. The best part?
- A Daily Pass allows you to move your vehicle between different lots within Stanley Park without paying again.
- Passes can be purchased at any physical meter or right on your phone via the PayByPhone app.
3. Watch for Tow-Away Zones
Stanley Park is shared by cars, cyclists, pedestrians, and horse-drawn carriages. Because of this, certain areas are strictly enforced tow-away zones to keep traffic flowing.
Never park on the grassy shoulders, in designated carriage turnaround areas, or block the seawall paths. Enforcement patrols the one-way loop continuously.
